Planes, trains & automobiles (and 20 years)
We are home after 10 fun days traveling the country. We were able to take the kids to Chicago (Shedd Aquarium, Field Museum, Ginos Pizza, downtown); to Glacier National Park (Izaak Walton Inn, hiking, horseback riding, extreme ropes course, rafting, Avalanche Lake); and Seattle (Space Needle, Seattle Aquarium, Pop Culture Museum, seafood galore, Wall of Gum, Harbour Tour).
We filled those 10 days with as many activities as possible, so for me, it was nice to have the break from it all in Glacier. Give me mountain air, crisp, clear waters, a book and good friends and I am set. That was the highlight for me. Each one of our kids enjoyed something, which was super to witness. Abby is most definitely our city girl, liking Chicago best. Keely preferred Glacier. And Libby and Connor enjoyed it all (although to Connor, Chicago meant lots of walking and lots of waiting!)
Chris and I celebrated 20 years married (23 years total) on our trip. We celebrated with a warm cup of coffee while listening to the glorious sound of the pine trees. It was perfect.
The trip meant lots of walking but not much else (and some more adult beverages than normal). So I'm back at it today and am happy that I am beginning a nutrition and exercise bootcamp with a fellow trainer from Denver. Paige Kumpf leads a Lean Body Bootcamp that begins next week. Im looking forward to learning more about nutrient timing, carb loading and macronutrients. Im sure it will be an intense 6-week program that will challenge and encourage me to change the way Ive been eating (perfect timing on the heels of vacation) and also the way Im exercising. Ill be sure to keep you posted!
Till then~it's great to be home! All the best in health!
